Welcome to the Secondary School

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Secondary section of the International School of Budapest, where our students in Grades 6 to 12 embark on an exciting journey of academic growth, personal development, and global understanding.

Our lower secondary years, from Grades 6 to 8, offer two distinct and unique educational pathways designed to meet the diverse needs of our community. The International Pathway follows the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum, providing a strong foundation in core subjects through an inquiry-based, internationally focused approach. Meanwhile, our Hungarian Bilingual Pathway integrates the Hungarian National Curriculum with key Cambridge subjects, ensuring that English is taught primarily as a first language within a bilingual learning environment.

In Grades 9 and 10, students follow the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme, a globally recognized qualification that emphasizes academic rigour, independence, and critical thinking.

At the heart of our school is a supportive and inclusive community. Our small class sizes allow us to offer personalized attention and ensure that every student is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
