I completed my BA in Psychology at the University of Pécs, Hungary and later on my MSc in School Psychology in the Netherlands. Before I began my journey to understand the human mind, I’ve had the privilege to study in different countries, such as, Romania, China and the USA. All these different countries, cultures and people not only helped me to build a diverse and rich foundation for my higher education, but it also helped me to become a more open-minded and curious person. I was first introduced to Psychology in high school through the IB program. Back then, I didn’t think it would become something which I pursue and expand my knowledge of to this day. For three years, I’ve worked as a school social worker with the aim to learn the child protection system, which I believe is essential when working with minors, and also to help where help is needed the most. Throughout these three years I had individual cases and I also implemented prevention groups, team building exercises and sociometry for elementary and high school students. I am also a mentor at Milestone Institute for three years now and in the process of becoming a Family and Couples Therapist. In my free time I play in a Division II futsal team.

Fülöp, Evelin
My passion for different languages and cultures dates back to my primary and secondary school years, as these subjects were always my favourites, and I followed the lessons with great enthusiasm. From the second year of secondary school onwards, I consciously oriented myself in this direction. I obtained my BA degree in Hungarian Language and Literature in 2021 at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE).
I began gaining professional experience relatively early, as during my studies I worked with students preparing for their school-leaving exams (érettségi) and central entrance examinations (központi felvételi), as well as providing remedial tutoring. I taught both individually and in groups at a small private educational institution.
In 2023, I completed my Master’s degree in Hungarology (Hungarian studies) with a specialisation in Hungarian as a Foreign Language, also at ELTE. Thanks to one of my professors, I had the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge I had previously encountered only in theory: alongside my studies, I taught Erasmus and Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship students at the university as a visiting lecturer. I greatly enjoyed sharing my enthusiasm for the Hungarian language and culture and working together with students, and this experience confirmed for me that teaching is truly my chosen career path. Motivated by this, I also completed the teacher training Master’s programmes in Hungarian Language and Literature and in Hungarian as a Foreign Language at ELTE in 2024.
In addition to the experiences mentioned above, I have had the opportunity to try myself in several other areas as well, for example by teaching Hungarian to foreigners at various language schools. In these institutions, I worked with learners of different ages and nationalities, which I greatly enjoyed. I also learned a great deal about my students’ cultures and languages. I consider this to be at the core of my teaching philosophy: openness towards one another, as well as mutual respect and trust.
In my free time, I enjoy learning languages, travelling, going to the theatre and concerts, and, of course, reading.

After graduation, she joined Spain’s bilingual education program as an English language assistant in Madrid. Alongside this role, she also taught IB HL and IGCSE Extended mathematics at an after-school academy.
Teaching has always been close to her heart, and she is delighted to be part of the International School of Budapest community. Her goal is to help students discover the beauty of mathematics, and support the development of their creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Beyond the classroom, Angéla has been a dedicated volunteer at Roots Camp (Gyökerek Tábor), a community initiative offering summer getaways for Hungarian children from less privileged backgrounds living in neighbouring countries. As part of the organizing team, she helped create an inclusive and engaging environment by coordinating logistics, cultural activities, and daily programs. She brings the same spirit of community and care to her homeroom classes. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, hiking, and crafting, the latter she often incorporates into her lesson plans to enhance student engagement and foster creativity.

Tóth, Dániel
I was born and raised in the Far East side of Hungary. I was a competitive swimmer for 10 years so that made me stick to this sport and P.E. That’s why I came to Budapest to study at the Hungarian University of Sports Science. In my first year of my studies, I started to work for the University by running and organising swimming classes and mentoring other students to do so. After my first year, I started to work for a Swim School at Mom Sport and had a lot of young and happy children leaving my courses that most importantly learned how to swim safely. In my university years I have done a Pilot Study which involved Sports psychology. I have that publicized in different international Forums both in English and German. I have done my P.E. practical classes in different schools in Budapest which I really loved doing. Students can expect a very kind, understanding but consequent Mr. Tóth.

Van der Vlis, Iris
My name is Iris van der Vlis, and I am originally from The Netherlands. I graduated with a MSc in Educational Science and Primary Education at the University of Amsterdam, where I specialised in multilangualism and translangualism. I have been working in education in The Netherlands for the past four years, and love working with young learners. As a teacher, I believe the most important job is to make students feel safe enough to grow. I am passionate about providing a classroom-environment where students feel at home, and about having students learn about the world and themselves. In my free time, I enjoy reading, travelling, and being creative.

Balancing teaching with research, Eymen has published extensively in Organic Chemistry. Despite his professional success, his greatest joy is his family. He is married and a proud father to a young son, finding fulfillment in both his career and home life.

Zatykó, Sára
I was born in Budapest, Hungary, however, I spent most of my childhood in Calgary, Canada. I loved living there, I have fond and vivid memories from that period of my life. Unfortunately, when I finished second grade we had to move back to Hungary. Every now and then me and my family visit our Canadian friends, and it always feels like going home. Still, I would not change how things are now. I graduated from Eotvos Lorand University with a masters’ degree in teaching English as a foreign language and Classroom Music teaching. I have experience mostly in teaching English for young learners in Primary School and Music. My main goal is always to create a friendly and highly motivating environment for my students, in which they feel safe to learn and have fun. Besides teaching I like to sing, play the piano, make music, dance, do all kinds of sports, cook, and travel in or outside the country.
