Assessment Day

To become enrolled in our school, it is necessary that your child participates in our Trial Day programme, and also takes the English language proficiency test. During the Trial Day programme, children spend the morning in our school together with a group of students of their age. In case participation in the chosen study programme of a given grade has language requirements, in the framework of the Trial Day programme, students have the opportunity to show us their knowledge of the English language in line with the Cambridge International Exam level relevant for the given age group (www.cambridgeenglish.org/learning-english/exam-preparation).

It is important for us to see how a child can use their existing English language skills when learning material required in each school subject, as well as during classroom communication. So, please consider measuring the language proficiency of your child as a condition assessment and not as a fateful exam. It is important for all parties to know whether targeted development of a child’s English language skills is necessary or not. If yes, to what extent, as this fundamentally affects the success of the child’s integration. Also, we assess the applying child’s knowledge in mathematics, and in the case of children applying for the bilingual programme, their academic level in Hungarian, too – compared to the level of ISB students. Please be aware that by filling in our online form, you give your consent for ISB to assess your child’s level of English, and based on the result, the English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme might be needed for admission of the child to ISB. In such a case, participation in ISB’s EAL programme is mandatory.
